Blog Tour: Why I Am Not A Feminist, Jessa Crispin

I am delighted to be on the tour to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Melville House- a great publisher. Do check out the other books on this tour. Here's to the next 20, but in the meantime, I'm celebrating one of their reads from 2017.

Extra, extra, read all about it!

Are you a feminist? Do you believe women are human beings and that they deserve to be treated as such? That women deserve all the same rights and liberties bestowed upon men? If so, then you are a feminist . . . or so the feminists keep insisting. But somewhere along the way, the movement for female liberation sacrificed meaning for acceptance, and left us with a banal, polite, ineffectual pose that barely challenges the status quo. In this bracing, fiercely intelligent manifesto, Jessa Crispin demands more.

Why I Am Not A Feminist is a radical, fearless call for revolution. It accuses the feminist movement of obliviousness, irrelevance, and cowardice—and demands nothing less than the total dismantling of a system of oppression.

Bobs and Books honest review:

Its hard to believe that this was published around 5 years ago as its still scarily more current and topical than ever before. Reading it now feels even more empowering due to the foresight of the author.

This is one angry read. The author has a clear agenda and puts it across aggressively and forcefully. Any gender will feel shaken by this read. Do not let that deter you though- it simply means there's no room for ambiguity and crossed wires. The messages come through loud and clear through passion and drive.

This will make you think. You will probably feel uncomfortable. It will shock you.

Which is exactly why you need to pick it up and read it.

Happy 20 years Melville House!
