Books-On-Tour: Hope and Learning, Our Journey with Schizophrenia- Linda Snow Griffin

Its my pleasure to be on the tour for this insightful read.

What's this about?

When her son was diagnosed with Schizophrenia, Linda Snow-Griffin, a psychologist in private practice, felt devastated and overwhelmed. There were thousands of questions going through her mind: How can I help him? What does he need to get better? Will he be able to get better?

Hope and Learning narrates the 20-year journey Linda and her son embarked on, as they navigated their way towards recovery and a better understanding of what it is like to live with schizophrenia.

This book combines personal experience with schizophrenia with substantial data to create a heart warming and informative resource.

Bobs and Books honest review:

I'll admit that when I started this read, I knew nothing about schizophrenia or know of anyone with this diagnosis.

I learnt a lot from this read.

This very clearly steers you between facts about the illness and Linda's own personal journey through her sons diagnosis.

Its honest, heart felt and I admire her courage to admit that she struggled as a parent to process this. Its very brave.

I would have maybe liked one chapter or some comments from her son to get his perspective- I think this could have enhanced the read.

If you are a numbers person, or interested in science, or just like an interesting mother/son read, pick this up. You'll be sure to learn something.
